pervade(골고루 퍼지다)와 permeate(스며들다, 배어들다)는 이렇게 서로 바꿔 쓸 수 있다. 하지만 pervade가 permeate와 완전히 똑같은 것은 아니다. pervade는 기본적으로 기체가 퍼지는 것을 묘사하는 반면, permeate는 액체가 스며드는 것을 묘사한다. 그래서 다음 문장과 같은 맥락에서는 permeate/permeable/impermeable을 써야한다.
