in memoriam

The message on the pedestal begins "In memoriam" and then lists the names of the local young men who died in World WarⅠ.

아랫단에는 글이 새겨져 있는데 in memoriam으로 시작하며, 제1차세계대전에서 사망한 그 지역의 젊은이들의 이름을 나열한다. 

로마제국 시대 세워진 기념물과 묘비들을 보면 in memoriam이라는 표현 뒤에 이름이 따라나오는 것을 볼 수 있다. 이 표현은 책이나 시의 헌사에서도 볼 수 있다.
