voluble

'volv/volu'는 'to roll(말다), wine(감다)'라는 뜻의 어근이다.  

volu(roll)가 들어있는 voluble은 rolling off his/her tongue(주저함 없이 빠르게 말하는/ 말이 많은, 입담이 좋은)라는 뜻이다. 

In O. Henry's famous story "The Ransom of Red Chief," the kidnappers nab a boy who turns out to be so unbearably voluble that they can hardly wait to turn him loose again.
오 헨리의 유명한 단편소설 "붉은 두목의 몸값(The Ransom of Red Chief)"에서는 납치된 아이가 감당하기 힘들 정도로 입담이 좋아 유괴범들이 골탕먹는 이야기가 나온다. 이 작품은 영화 '나 홀로 집에'의 모티브가 되었다.
