intercept, perceptible

cept는 'to take or seize(붙잡다)'라는 뜻의 어근이다. 

intercept 가로채다, 가로막다
inter(between)+cept(take/seize)는 말 그대로 중간에 가로챈다는 뜻이다. 

The explosives had been intercepted by police just before being loaded onto the jet.
폭발물은 항공기에 실리기 직전 경찰에 의해 발각되었다. 

percept 감지하다, 파악하다
perception 인지, 지각, 이해
perceptive 지각력이 예민한 
perceptible 감지할 수 있는, 뚜렷한
per(through)+cept(take/seize)가 결합하여 whatever can be taken in through the senses(감각을 통해 인지할 수 있는 것)을 의미한다. 

A perceptive person picks up minor changes, small clues, or hints and shades of meaning that others can't perceive.
촉이 좋은 사람은, 남들은 인지하지 못하는 사소한 변화, 작은 실마리, 힌트, 미묘한 어감을 포착해낸다.
