figment

fig는 'to shape or mold(모양을 빚다)' 또는 'a form or shape(모양/형태)'라는 뜻을 가진 어근이다. 

figment는 '꾸며진 것'을 말하는데, 대부분 a figment of sb's imagination이라는 형태로 쓰인다. 

Don't tell him, but his popularity is just a figment of his imagination.
그에게 말하지마. 어쨌든 그의 인기는 상상의 산물에 불과해.

The idea that my parents don't like you is a figment of your imagination.
우리 부모님이 널 좋아하지 않는다는 건, 너만의 생각일 뿐이야.
